You don’t need a lot of money to hire an attorney to represent you in a workers’ compensation claim. In fact, you don’t need any at all.

We recognize that injured workers who are out of work and not receiving their wages don’t have a dime to spare on attorney fees. That’s why we represent workers’ compensation clients on a contingency basis. You pay no up front fees and no attorney fees at all unless we win compensation for you. The attorney fees are set by Michigan law and cannot exceed a certain limit. So it costs you no more to hire an experienced attorney who has a successful track record in workers’ compensation claims.

The contingency fee arrangement gives injured people the ability to assert their rights without paying high hourly fees to lawyers. You can have an attorney with decades of experience winning workers’ compensation benefits for clients without fronting any money. If we win your case — as we do 80 to 90 percent of the time —our fees come from the workers’ compensation benefits you receive.

We have several attorney fee options.

  • If you take a lump-sum settlement without a trial, the attorney fee is 15 percent up to $25,000 and 10 percent for any amount in excess of $25,000, on the net amount after subtracting expenses.
  • If you choose to receive weekly payments for lost wages, our fee is 30 percent of the past due weekly payments, after expenses. This fee arrangement does not diminish your future weekly payments for lost wages.
  • If you are receiving workers’ compensation benefits voluntarily and you take a lump-sum settlement, the attorney fee is 10 percent of the settlement amount.

We can advise you regarding which fee schedule applies to you. To discuss your case, please contact a workers’ compensation attorney at the Adler Firm, PLLC. We represent injured workers from across the state from our offices in Traverse City and Detroit, Michigan.
